This is a rhetorical question.
But, really, ask yourself, "why am I connecting with this person on LinkedIn?"
Do you think that simply building a large network will benefit you?
How will you benefit your network if you don't know who they are?
Your network will grow more slowly but it will be much stronger, like building a house on a strong foundation rather than on sand, if you take time to engage.
I usually request a brief zoom meeting with new connections for 2 reasons.
First, there are too many disingenuous people who make a good first impression.
They are time wasters!
Weed them out quickly. If they won't meet on a zoom or phone call, it's because they don't want to reveal their true identity.
Second, and more importantly, I want to get to know more about the person and their business.
Why?
You can't refer someone you know nothing about.
You can build a relationships by reading and engaging on the other's posts daily but it's slow going.
Be intentional on LinkedIn.
Connect, Engage, and Build a strong network.
LinkedIn is a powerful tool when you use it correctly.
