It was a chilly winter day as I wandered the grocery store aisles when my phone suddenly rang—a request from my daughter for a forgotten item.
After the call, I slipped my phone under my bra strap, concealed beneath my sweater. Moments later, an elderly man approached me, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Excuse me," he inquired timidly, "if your phone rings again, may I answer it?"
I burst into laughter, mirroring his playful expression. Leaning in, I jokingly whispered, "Only if you want a black eye." Our shared laughter filled the aisle, dispelling any tension. It was an innocent, lighthearted exchange between two strangers who found humor in the mundane task of grocery shopping.
We parted ways, both grinning from our brief yet comical encounter. As I continued shopping, I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of being more discreet with my phone in the future.
