I've been nominated for Business Woman of the Year through my Chamber of Commerce, The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce
Did I rejoice?
No.
I had all kinds of negative thoughts, which is really not like me.
"I don't deserve to be nominated", said my little voice.
"I don't have anything to wear", it continued...looking for any excuse not to go.
I should have thought, "I'm grateful someone believes in me."
Then, I heard that the restaurant contracted to cater this Annual Award Dinner burned to the ground only about a week before the event.
The caterer is devastated.
What happened next was incredible.
Restaurant owners around town rallied together to offer their kitchens to help the caterer.
Businesses have been completely selfless in their offerings to help in any way they can.
I am so proud to be part of this community where everyone put their own interests aside to help another business.
The dinner is this Saturday.
I now see it in a whole new light.
It's not about me. It's about community.
I am proud that I have been nominated and I will rejoice with whoever wins.
More than anything, I just want to be part of all of the amazing people who will be in attendance.
Have you experienced unselfish acts of kindness in your business community?
