First, meeting new connections is a way to sort out scammers and unethical people.

Are you one of those people who are building your network but have no intention of interacting with any of them?

What good is it to have a large network of people you don't know?

LinkedIn takes work. That's why it's called a NetWORK.

I learned quickly that unless you get to know the people in your network, you can't help them and they can't help you.

Also, don't assume that everyone knows what you do for a living and will jump at doing business with you.

Until you show others that you are genuinely interested in their business, they won't show much interest in yours.

I strive to bring value to my network through the content of my posts.

I also write posts for the good of the network, such as this one.

I write posts just for fun or to share something of interest that I've seen or learned.

There are so many reasons to post, but the whole network experience is to bring value to others.

Networking takes time.

Make it valuable to yourself and those you interact with.

As Theodore Roosevelt said, "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care."
