My daughter, Alena, had an idea.

She wanted a tattoo.

She created her own design incorporating things she loves.

She loves music and cats.

Her middle name is Rose, named after my mother.

But, at the age of 18, Alena asked me if she could get her tattoo.

Since she was away in college, and an adult, she didn't need to ask but I appreciated the gesture and told her my answer would be, No.

I had all of those motherly reasons like, "tattoos are so permanent", "how do you know you'll like it 20 years from now?", and "do you really have the money right now?"

I was grateful that she didn't get the tattoo, but I didn't forget about it either.

When she graduated, Alena decorated her cap with her tattoo design.

Meanwhile, I had my own idea.

I took her design to a jeweler and had him create a lasting work of art that won't change with age.

The look on her face when she opened the box was priceless.

Tears literally shot out of her eyes.

Thoughts and ideas can become things.

What began as a simple drawing turned into a silver and gold, one of a kind, piece of art that will endure the test of time.

What would you like to create?
