We hear a lot about disruptive innovation, as if it's something new.

The automobile certainly disrupted the status quo of the day, as did the invention of the wheel for that matter.

In the last 20 years, however, there has been a boom in disruptive innovations.

Companies like eBay, Amazon, Uber, and Airbnb come to mind, all completely disrupting the way their industries provide services. A few others are Netflix, Skype, and Wikipedia.

These disruptors make it SIMPLER, EASIER, and MORE AFFORDABLE to access products/services that were already well established in their traditional models such as movie theaters, shopping malls, taxi cabs, and hotels.

LegalShield is a company that has been disrupting the legal industry for almost 50 years, cutting the costs dramatically of getting access to the legal system, thereby making it affordable to everyone.

Disrupting the current status quo serves as a wake-up call for many industries to improve their products, prices, and delivery of their services.

And, this is just the beginning. There are so many more to come.

What is your experience with disruptive innovators?

How have you benefitted most from disruptive innovations in the past 10 years?
