We live in a reactive state of mind.
Rather than prepare in advance, we wait until situations arise that could have been avoided, and then we react to them.
I have witnessed people arriving at a hotel wanting to get into their room quickly because they had to be ready for a wedding in an hour, only to find that there were no rooms ready.
Why didn't they come a day early or call ahead?
I have seen irate customers lose their temper because their desired product was out of stock.
How can you be standing in a mega superstore and get that upset about one item that isn't available?
There are so many other options! Be flexible!
I have seen new employees not show up for work for 2 days, then not understand why they didn't have a job when they came back.
Even worse, their excuse was something lame like I couldn't come, or I didn't have time.
WHAT??
All that is left to these people is to react by lashing out, hurling insults, and blaming everyone else for their lack of common sense and the ability to make simple decisions.
We must stop reacting to every situation as if it's a media sensation.
Take responsibility.
Things happen. Think it through. What's the best solution?
We can all be more solution-oriented and less problem-oriented.
How do you react when things don't go your way?
