August is National Make-A-Will Month
We consider your Will as your Final Love Letter to your family.
It tells them that you cared enough to make decisions so they wouldn't have to, at a time when they are least able to.
Many people are afraid to talk about Estate Planning but it is part of life.
In fact, statistics show that 100% of us will die and we won't be taking anything with us.
Several years ago, I was once at a company enrolling employees for our services.
One area of our services provides a Will for each covered family member at no extra cost.
An employee approached me and said, "I can write my Will on a piece of toilet paper if I want to. Why should I pay to have it done?
I wanted to tell him his Will would probably be worth as much, but I kept silent.
Before I could answer, another employee spoke up.
She retorted, "John, you know as well as I do the hell I've been through since my husband died, His Will was handwritten and his parents contested it saying that it meant something different. There's nothing left because of attorney fees I've had to pay. Get yer damn Will prepared properly!"
I couldn't have said it better.
The man joined that day and is still a member.
70% of Americans do not have an up-to-date Will or any Will at all.
I work to help people understand that it doesn't have to cost $300-$3000 to have your Will prepared.
We make it affordable for everyone to get their Wills prepared.
Has your family discussed preparing their Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Medical Directives?
