207 - Do you take time to volunteer?

Today, I’m taking time off work to volunteer for a career fair at a local University.

I have a nagging sinus infection but that won’t stop me.

It’s great to see so many people I know from other businesses who are here on behalf of a non-profit organization.

In my case, it’s Big Brothers Big Sisters.

I’ve been a “Big” for 7 years.

Having the privilege of mentoring a young person who hasn’t had an ideal home situation is enlightening to say the least.

The small amount of time I give to help my “Little” see a different perspective and instill in her a more positive outlook have helped me as much as her.

My “Little’s” mother was in prison for 9 years.

Helping this young girl see a life from a new standpoint has made all the difference for her.

It’s changed me as well.
