Wealthy people retain attorneys on a regular basis for advice and counsel.
There are so many people on social media seeking advice and answers.
People are confused, angry, worried, and anxious.
Most of the questions being asked are about legal issues.
When I ask them about their situations and ask why they don't call an attorney, I am often told one of the following excuses:
1) I HATE ATTORNEYS
No one really hates attorneys.
They hate the cost of attorneys. 90% of the people can not afford an attorney.
2) MY COUSIN/NEIGHBOR/GIRLFRIEND'S FATHER IS AN ATTORNEY
This always fascinates me. Knowing one attorney is not the same as having access to a nationwide network of law firms covering every area of law.
Do they really take advantage of that attorney every time they need advice and counsel?
It reminds me of Mike Tyson who used his good friend, a tax attorney, as his trial defense attorney. It got him 7 years in prison.
There are specialty areas of law for a reason!
3) I NEVER USE ATTORNEYS
Most people do not consult attorneys because of the high cost and they don't know if they will even get a response.
What is the main reason you don't have an attorney on retainer?
I hate attorneys
I know an attorney
I never use attorneys
Why would I call an attorney?
