It is sometimes difficult to tell if a profile is real or not.
Other times it's obvious.
Unless you look at the profile of a connection request, you won't know if it's a real person or not.
I had 3 requests this week from fake profiles that found me through people in my network.
How can you tell if a profile is fake or not?
Do they have a profile picture that looks professional and a background heading?
Those are simple places to start.
Do the schools and companies they associate with have actual logos or just the name?
Scan over their profile. Does it look real? Are they engaging on LinkedIn? Do they post content?
There are many things to look at, so it can be daunting.
Scammers know we are busy, so they are expecting that we won't pay much attention to them.
That's why it's important to ask a few questions about their business etc right at the beginning.
When you accept a new connection you're giving them access to your network, even if you have selected to keep it private. HOW?
They follow your posts and connect with people who engage with you.
Do you accept every connection request without looking at it first?
