Like Covid-19, Identity Theft does not discriminate.
It wreaks havoc on people's lives at home and at work.
Identity Theft and Cybercrime are in their beginning stages. It's as new to you and me as it is to the people doing it.
Credit monitoring alone does not protect you from identity theft.
That's right. Those free services offered by Equifax provide little protection in most areas of IDTheft.
Credit monitoring is only one area of iIDTheft that covers financial fraud.
What about other areas like children's and deceased identity theft?
Case in point:
While this is a case of financial fraud, it most likely won't be caught because people don't think to monitor children or those who are deceased.
A woman once told me that her 2-year bought a BMW in New York. She lives in another state, but someone got her son's social security number and used it to secure a loan to buy a car, more than likely because they didn't have the credit of their own to secure a loan. She found out when she went to open a savings account for her son. The background check showed a line of credit.
Imagine losing a loved one to cancer as this friend of mine did:
A friend of mine lost her husband to cancer. 3 years after he died, she started getting credit card bills in his name for things he was supposedly buying. Thieves had used his identity to apply for a credit card.
Can you even imagine the devastating feeling that could cause someone?
What about the potential claims against you or your employees?
Is everyone connected to your company covered for the event of IDTheft situations?
I often hear people say that they have excellent security and so they don't need extra protection.
These are the people who need some education on the reality and severity of IDTheft. Even large insurance firms, the government, and the military have been hacked.
Do you have a credible identity theft service for yourself, your business, and those you care about, such as family and employees?
Will you be ready when it happens?
