We hear this often in sales pitches. Say less to more people.

The concept of "less is more" applies in many situations.

In sales, it applies to salespeople who blurt out everything they know about their services or products.

They may be passionate about their mission but they lose potential clients.

People often say too much when asked for an explanation.

They may have been asked a closed-ended question.

An example: "Did you close the door?"

Response: "I had to go get the groceries out of the car and the dog got out so I had to go catch her before she got into the neighbor's flowers..." You get the idea.

A simple Yes or No would have sufficed but they feel the need to give every detail.

This also applies to overeating. Better to eat less than too much.

It applies to women who wear too much makeup thinking it makes them attractive.

Some women aren't aware of how unnatural they look.

Less is more when it comes to taking prescription drugs, applying pest repellents in gardening, and for people who worry. The list goes on.

Worry is a useless construct of the mind that benefits no one. Why worry it at all?

What about in business?

Explaining practices and procedures to a sales team can become unbearable when over-delivered.

Employees shut down and stop listening.

Where do you apply the concept of Less is More?
