We are in tough times. Your employees are stressed.
Whatever they are worried about, your employees are more focused on their issues than their job.
#1 Employees are stressed because of many things going on in their lives.
#2 They are guessing about ways to handle their issues. Just look at Facebook! People are unhappy, they are confused, angry, and frustrated.
#3 They feel stuck because they really need help and sound advice with some of these issues, but they must be at work. As a result, they aren't really handling work or their problems efficiently.
It's a well-known fact that 2/3 of employees will take time off of work to handle private matters.
What a burden on HR!
Providing employees access to health and wellness programs has its value but doesn't solve their issues.
When it comes to their real issues, those programs are like putting a bandaid on a broken leg.
Legal and identity theft protection are among the fastest-growing benefits. Everyone should have the ability to pick up the phone and talk to an attorney, or licensed investigator, even if just for a second opinion.
