Today I'm chatting with @Anthony J. James.
Anthony is a LinkedIn Influencer with 3.4 million followers.
I should feel so fortunate to have someone like Anthony James chatting with me, right?
As if he really has the time, right?
I'm well aware that it isn't Anthony.
A scammer, probably from Nigeria, has used Anthony's picture to create a profile on What's App.
This FAKE is telling me how he gathers donations from his followers to give money to an orphanage in Sydney, Australia.
This is, of course, all fake.
He gave the name of an orphanage, called St. John's, which was decommissioned in 1978, is now abandoned and decaying.
This is how they pull at your heartstrings.
The next step this impostor will take is to ask me to donate to his cause.
Imagine!! People fall for this and send money.
I will tell him exactly what I know about him, report, and block him.
Everyone says they would never fall for scams like this, yet Americans lose millions of dollars every year to scammers.
Why anyone would send money to someone they don't know and have never seen is beyond me.
Most people on LinkedIn are on top of this trend but the average American is not.
Have you ever discussed this kind of scam with your parents or grandparents?
Please have a conversation with them.
Who do you know that falls for scammers?
