We've all seen the statistics on communication.
You know the one that says only 7% of communication is verbal.
The statistics were taken back in 1969 and are not accurate.
Yet, your voice plays an important role in how people receive your communication.
Have you ever recorded yourself and listened to yourself speak?
Your tone of voice is so important that many people who speak for a living get coaching on how to change their tone of voice.
Margaret Thatcher is one example. She was tutored to lower her voice.
If you intend to do a lot of speaking in your career it could be helpful to get feedback on your vocal tone.
Your tone of voice can make all the difference in how the information you're sharing is received.
Think of that one person who seems to have trouble being heard because of their tiny voice.
There is the one whose voice is so booming you want to hold your ears when they talk.
We all have an opinion on what other people sound like when they talk but what about your own voice?
If you feel that people don't listen to you it could be because of your voice.
You could have your voice evaluated.
Speech coaches are not just there for people with speech impediments.
They can train professional speakers to communicate more effectively.
