Have you ever met someone on LinkedIn who always has to have the last word?

They're usually not even aware of it.

I know because I was once accused of it.

Conversations can get tricky when those involved are not on the same page about the direction of the discussion.

I thought we were engaged in conversation until I was told that I just had to have the last word.

It occurred to me much later that the opposite was true!

Because I continued to discuss the issue the person insisted I was argumentative.

I had no clue we were arguing!

As it turned out, the other person thought their own viewpoint was the only way to look at it.

When one person is discussing while the other is arguing, there is a breakdown in communication.

Here on LinkedIn, where the only aspect of communication is written, there can be a lot of misunderstandings.

We are unable to see or hear the other person which limits us from visual and audio clues.

Body language and tone of voice are missing leaving us to interpret only what we read.

Miscommunication in the business world can cost a lot of time and money.

Are you mindful of possible misunderstandings on written posts?
