Millions of people traveled over the holidays to visit friends and family.
I was with family in South Carolina.
My sister-in-law had cooked for 22 people and prepared other meals.
She babysat her 1-year-old grandson for several hours each day.
She had 3 bedrooms filled with guests.
By the time all was said and done, I knew my she would have a lot of work to do once we all left.
Being mindful of her circumstance, my kids and I helped in every way I could.
Before leaving, I stripped my bed and gathered the towels I had used and put it all in the laundry room.
This is something I always do whenever I've been someone's guest.
I left the room the way I found it. My children do the same thing.
We pick up when ever we can, help cook, do dishes and run errands.
It's a courtesy we like to pass on to people who have been gracious to us.
There are similar courtesies I like to do in business. When you're mindful by helping people and making their job a bit easier, they will remember it.
As T. Harv Eker said, "How you do anything is how you do everything".
It's important to be mindful of the things people have done for us, both in our personal lives and in business.
It was enough to hear my sister-in-law telling a friend how easy my kids and I are to have as guests.
Being mindful and showing gratitude with small gestures will become second nature. You will have formed a powerful habit that will reward you, just by being that way.
Small acts of kindness by going above and beyond show the people around you that you care.
Are you mindful of the kind of guest you are?
