The term Emotional Intelligence (EQ) has been cropping up more and more recently.
By Definition it is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.
When you look at the rise in anxiety, fear and depression over the past 2 years, it is clear, we have a problem.
The root of the fear problem is threefold: fear of death, fear of change and fear of the unknown.
Our country is lacking in EQ.
Think of all the people in countries with fewer freedoms than we have. They don't have access to social media except what the government dictates.
With government controlled media, the people have no ability to respond to, or protest against, the propaganda without facing strict penalties.
In America, we have become so complacent with our freedoms that we are unprepared for change or even having difficult conversations.
Our opinions become our facts. Our media has done a brilliant job of molding our mentality.
Instead, we gather (like herds) and protest; we attack on social media, empowered by our anonymity. .
Most people find it difficult to go to work without bring their baggage with them.
Multitude of people run to the doctor for more anxiety pills.
We could reduce the need for medication by increasing Emotional Intelligence.
It is possible to learn to breathe, reflect, contemplate and respond rather than react.
Emotional Intelligence can be learned individually and in teams.
