It doesn't matter whether you work at home or in an office.
Work is work.
For those who work at home, there may be more distractions than at the workplace.
People seem to think that you are free to do whatever you want because you are at home.
You may have children, a spouse, pets, and a myriad of other things that take your mind off of work if you don't set boundaries.
It's no different in an office setting.
We are over-connected these days; distractions have become a way of life.
Do you teach boundary setting to your employees (or yourself if you work from home)?
If you're an employee, were you given training on boundary setting and time blocking?
As I write this post, I have Facebook and LinkedIn open.
I left them open to see what a difference it makes.
It's terribly distracting!!
If you have multiple social media sites open as you are trying to work, with notifications on, your attention will constantly be called away from your work.
You may think you are a great multitasker.
NO, you're not, and the rest of your team (family) knows it.
Most people can not multitask. There are plenty of statistics to show it.
Block an hour of time to work uninterrupted. Turn off all notifications.
It's amazing how much you can get done when there are no distractions.
How do you stop distractions when you are working?
