376 - Are you addicted to your digital devices?

There is a saying in German, "Alle denken nur an sich, nur ich denke an mich".

"Everyone thinks of themselves, only I think of myself".

At first, this aphorism makes people laugh.

But, upon closer reflection you realize how ironic it is.

I was reminded of this saying after I watched a cartoon video posted by @Richard Mayne.

It's a powerful cartoon that shows what we have allowed ourselves to become as a result of our digital devices.

The devices didn't create this problem, neither did the tech giants who created them.

We have only ourselves to blame for being a society that is almost completely glued to a screen of some sort, often ignoring everything around us.

We encourage everyone to buy products Made in the USA.We even take photos (with our phones that say Made in China) of products made in China and other countries that we want to see boycotted.

When was the last time you took a break from social media?

Our children learn from us. They are glued to their devices because we allow them to be.

We allow them to be glued to their devices because we are too busy watching our own to notice.

We are too busy posting pictures of ourselves, thinking that everyone else need to see us.

We look at everyone else as if they are the problem.

Until we look in the mirror...
