Many of the companies I work with offer wellness benefits.


Wellness benefits are the latest "shiny objects" in the Human Resources tool boxes.


According to SHRM "typical benefits in a wellness program include smoking cessation, weight loss, stress management, company gym/workout rooms, recreational programs such as company-sponsored sports teams, medical screenings and immunization/flu shots".


Valuable wellness benefits help a company retain employees and attract new talent.


Legal and identity theft protection services are the ultimate in wellness benefits.


Say What? How can that be?


These products don't seem glamorous but they reduce stress levels by solving employee's problems.


Weight problems and smoking are results of stress.


The most effective benefits should provide a solution to the issues causing stress.


Employees are facing issues such as divorce, debt collection, lack of an estate plan, eviction and other life events.


An effective wellness program will provide employees solutions to their problems, not temporary relief. It will give them peace of mind and empower them so they can focus on their jobs.
