There are a lot of people right now who don't know what they want.
Many people have quit their jobs and are looking for new ways to generate income.
To make things worse, there are a lot of well-meaning people who offer their unsolicited opinions and advice that does little to help anyone move forward.
It reminds me of the story of the old donkey that had fallen into a deep well.
There are many people who feel like that donkey right now.
In case you haven’t heard the story of the old donkey, I have copied it here:
One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off!
People will throw dirt on you.
You will struggle.
You will some times suffer setbacks.
Much like Thomas Edison, who said he hadn't failed 10,000 times. He learned 9,999 ways not to make a light bulb.
You can learn new and different ways, through trials and setbacks.
Each of our setbacks is a stepping-stone.
We can get out of the deepest wells by not stopping, never giving up!
Shake it off and take a step up!
Zig Ziglar said it best:
"You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want."
Helping others is a great way to shake off the dirt.
Do you feel stuck?
