I fight daily to protect people.
There are too many misconceptions about identity theft.
People are experiencing extreme identity theft issues and don't know where to turn.
Some people have free monitoring services. Those companies do nothing to help when an incident occurs. All they do is monitor.
Here are some of the comments from @Joette Higgins, who knows all too well what it's like to be a victim.

Joette was replying to a post by @Steve Wohlenhouse:
"I’m not comfortable sharing this…But I will say identity theft, or should I refer to it as fraud?
Regardless of the label, it can lead to violence.
I have experienced unimaginable violence, slander, libel, sexual harassment, etc.. I suppose there are quite a few words I could throw into the mix.
Had it not been for your post Steve… I might never have come to this conclusion.
However, I think the worst part of identity theft…is when you see certain aspects of evil, without any explanation or logic….it just breaks your heart. It breaks your heart in unimaginable ways….that can never be repaired.
Over 20 years of trying to (unsuccessfully) put a stop to it once and for all has been incredibly exhausting.
It is because of my love of nature, animals and a few very enlightened people along the way …that I am able to tell you my experience.
I am also grateful that LinkedIn has provided a platform, where I can regain my voice.
Identify theft is like being invisible. I can stand in front of you and say I’m here, this is who I am. I can say what I mean and mean what I say.
And yet…. in an instant, you will listen to the thief as I turn my back who says otherwise.
How do I begin to stop that kind of fraud…and still maintain my integrity?"

There are millions of people who suffer the consequences of identity theft each year.
It can linger for years as a person's information is sold on the black market and new thieves use it.
Identity Theft goes far beyond credit fraud, which is only one are of identity theft.
Ever American should have more than credit monitoring services because only about 18% of identity theft can be monitored.
You need comprehensive identity theft protection with private licensed investigators to help you.
Do you understand how devastating identity theft can be?
