When you have a referral for someone, how do you give it to them.
One of the things I loved about @BNI was that we were taught how to give proper referrals.
A referral is different from a lead.
A lead is when you tell a business partner that they should call on someone because they need their services.
A referral is when you get permission from the person to be referred for your respected business partner to call them.
WHY?
Because we all know that we will make the call.
The person needing our services/products may not make the call.
How often have you heard someone say, I told so-and-so about you and gave them your number?
That was not a referral, it was a weak lead.
The beauty of LinkedIn is that you can also introduce people in a group message.
It could be a referral or 2 people you think could possibly do business together.
Open a new message box and introduce both people .
Once they have greeted each other, you can leave the conversation, since it is no longer your business what they talk about.
Giving referrals and connecting people is what "NET" working is all about.
Many people say that no one refers them. My immediate question is, who have you referred?
It's easy to do and easy not to do but doing it will bring you business.
We must connect other people if we expect to be connected.
It's the magic of networking. You have to give in order to get.
