Today is one of those days where all I want to do is relax and read.
I'm reading an incredibly intense book that I don't want to put down.
It is also the 410th day of consistent posting on LinkedIn. It has become routine.
Staying consistent can be challenging as life events and shiny objects get in the way.
There are times when I know exactly what I want to write about and others where I draw a complete blank.
I have tried sitting down, as many do, to write 4-5 posts for the week. I discovered that that is not a constructive method for me.
I draw too many blanks and on certain days there are immediate ideas to write about something completely different.
Aside from writing consistently on LinkedIn posts, there are many things in life where we need consistency and routine.
There is no "one perfect way" to become consistent at writing, at doing your job, in raising children or anything else.
We must each find the way that works for us; it's all part of our journey.
Since I tend to be a spontaneous person, it makes sense that I don't plan everything in advance.
I would feel completely constricted if I was told I can only do things a certain way and that way didn't suit my personal way of doing things.
Having a routine is important, as @John Knotts talks about in his post today. https://bit.ly/3MOTKHS
There is flexibility in being consistent and having routines.
When you are consistent and have set routines, you are more able to handle emergencies and urgent situations that arise.
You know that you can handle anything that comes your way and still fall right back into your routine because it is consistent.
People who don't have a routine or are not consistent in the way they do things tend to lose grounding when unexpected circumstances arise.
They come back not knowing what to do next.
Create routines that work for you. Do them consistently so they become habits.
With that, having completed my post for today, I can get back to my book Feeling satisfied that I completed my post for the day.
Do you have trouble staying consistent?
