Reputation management is not only for young people looking for jobs.
The internet has been around for over 20 years and we have all posted things we may have forgotten about.
Your online reputation can prohibit you from getting a loan, a new landlord/tenant agreement, insurance and even online dating possibilities.
Everything you put online is being scrutinized by the people you work with and for.
Imagine wanting to buy a house, but the mortgage company has seen your post about quitting your job. The result...
NO LOAN
You are into online dating, looking to meet that perfect partner, but the dating service has scoured your social media and sees that what you wrote is different from what they see.
NO DATE
You love the new apartment complex or a home you want to rent. The leasing agency takes a deep dive into your social media and sees that you are quite the partier. They don't want wild parties in their complex or home.
NO APARTMENT
The same goes for getting a company you are interested in working with. They see promiscuous activity and decide you are not a fit for their corporate culture.
NO JOB
Don't think that reputation is only for one group of people. It can affect everyone.
Have you done a deep dive into your reputation lately?
