Yesterday, I walked outside and was shocked that I could barely see through all the smoke.

The air was heavy with the smell of something burning nearby, or so I thought.

After doing a bit of research, I learned that the smoke was coming from about 30 miles away.

It started as a brush fire, possibly caused by a cigarette being tossed out of a passing vehicle.

This resulted in cattle having to be relocated, the need for fire departments from several counties, about 400 acres burning and heavy smoke throughout the area.

Not too far away in a nearby county, another wildfire, caused by a car fire, burned over 1000 acres.

Until now, I took for granted the fresh air that I breathe.

I was reminded of the tremendous fires we see out in California and how we cannot relate until we experience it ourselves.

We take the air we breathe and the water we drink for granted.

There are many things that we take for granted, among them, people.

Who do you take for granted at home and at work?

Is there a family member you may want to thank for always being there when you need them?

Is there an employee or colleague who is vital to the team but is often overlooked?

Take time today to think of someone you will show appreciation to.

What do you take for granted?
