LinkedIn is a business platform, right?
People's purposes of connecting on LinkedIn vary, but for the most part, it is to get a job or do business in some form with others.
When you connect with anyone on LinkedIn but do not take the time to meet them, it's like answering the phone then laying it down and never talking to the person.
Connections on LinkedIn are meaningless if you don't engage.
I always ask for a zoom meeting we can both meet and see who it is we connected with.
I wouldn't shake hands with someone at a networking meeting without looking them in the eyes and talking to them.
That's what it's like on LinkedIn when someone connects with you but never says a word.
WHY ARE WE CONNECTING??
If not to help each other in business, would we have any reason to connect?
There days a belong gone when you connect randomly to build your network.
We know there is no value in pointless connections where no engagement takes place.
Some people engage because they like your content. To them I ask, what are you giving in return?
LinkedIn can be so much more than reading people's content and commenting on their posts.
If you want business on LinkedIn, see how many people you can help get business.
It's really that simple.
Keep your network in mind as you meet new people.
It is important to approach LinkedIn with purpose and a plan.
We hear so much about purpose, planning, goals and strategies.
Consider why you are here and what you are connecting with specific people.
Not everyone is your ideal client, and if all you are doing is looking for ideal clients, you may fall far short of your goal.
Everyone you connect with has a network of hundreds or thousands of people who may be your ideal client.
Think bigger, act smaller.
Connect and get to know people. Don't expect the biggest sale ever on your first meeting.
Build relationships and, over time, you will grow a powerful network.
