I love making pesto.

Today's post is the 5th of 10 about things that bring me joy.

Making pesto begins with buying the basil plant early and watching them grow.

I buy one plant and take cuttings, as it grows, to start new plants.

Those plants grow to be bushy and about 2 feet tall.

Once there is enough to harvest I cut my basil and the pesto-making process begins.

I go for the traditional pesto that I learned to make in Italy.

Sometimes the best things in life are the simplest.

If you want to make anything delicious, use good ingredients.

Pesto is as simple as basil, pecorino cheese (or Parmagiano), olive oil, pine nuts, garlic, and salt.

If I really want to go all out, I'll make pasta from scratch but that hasn't happened in a while.

Smelling all the different scents of good quality ingredients is part of the fun.

I am so grateful I learned that it's not just about the food, it's about the whole process of making it.

The same is true of our businesses. It isn't only the results that matter but the systems and the processes to bring a deal to fruition.

Making pesto gives me great joy.

What brings you joy?
