Many people I talk to think they can out smart a scammer.

Do you think you are smarter than scammers?

YOU'RE NOT!

The more you talk to scammers, the more the scammer learns.

They have zero emotional connection in the conversation.

Their goal is to keep you talking so they can learn response tendencies, speech patterns and emotional boundaries. They also continue gathering information you give out unconsciously.

There are so many things I could say in this post but it would give information to the scammers.

ASK ME. Start a conversation with me so I can help you recognize fake profiles.

I won't give this information publicly because I have no desire to educate scammers along the way.

The moment you are asked to download WhatsApp or do any kind of transaction with someone you only met a few days ago and haven't seen in a live virtual meeting, take the following steps.

REPORT them to LinkedIn and then BLOCK them.

If all you do is block them, you do no one any service.

Don't blame #LinkedIn for not being on top of it if you aren't helping to curb the problem.

LinkedIn could definitely improve their profile scans but that's not an excuse for us not to help.

Are you a person of integrity?

Being in integrity also means means knowing when to stop an interaction that is potentially dangerous.

If you are interacting with potential scammers in your network, keep in mind they also have access to your entire network.

"NO THEY DON'T, JANE, I have privacy settings".

"YES, THEY DO", because your connections are engaging on your posts and scammers can see if those are 1st or 2nd degree connections...

Stop providing bait for scammers.

REPORT and BLOCK. Think of it as the DROP and ROLL fire technique for stopping scammers!

How many potential fake profiles do you report and block each week?

0-5

6-10

I don't report or block anyone
