I was surprised to see this picture this morning on my Facebook memories.
Has it really been 9 years since I moved?
We all know that life takes us in many directions but I had to sit back and think about everywhere I've been.
I lived most of my life in Florida before my incredible professional journey began.
Florida seems like a good place to launch your life, metaphorically. After all, watching the emerging space program was a huge part of my youth.
...pause......to reflect how many inventions and new jobs came from the space program. That was one BHAG!!
From Florida, I continued studying the French horn, in Philadelphia. Then I landed my first job in Savannah, Georgia where I lived for 3 years, before blasting off to Europe, where I lived for 25 years. From Germany to France...I moved every 3-5 years.
Confusing? YES...I was all over the place, literally.
Moving wasn't part of my plan, because I didn't have a plan. (I never thought about plans). But LIFE WAS GOOD!
Then, I lost the desire to play in the orchestra.
I didn't feel that I was helping anyone.
When I returned to the US, I moved to Michigan for 7 years.
I chose mediation as my new career. I'm not even sure where I got the idea to become a mediator.
As a Certified Mediator, I loved that I could help people help themselves.
I learned about LegalShield, for trial defense protection, in case anyone should accuse me of giving them legal advice during mediation.
Mediators do not give legal advice, especially non-attorney mediators.
Then I learned about the many services LegalShield provides and I knew I would share it with everyone, whether I got paid or not.
As a result, I've now been working with LegalShield for 13 years and I won't be switching to any new careers.
My move to Texas 9 years ago was the beginning of another journey, when I set everything else aside to take care of my father.
I learned from my father that he always had a 5 year plan. My father was successful in business but I never knew he had a plan.
Having a written plan would have changed the course of my life, so I'm glad I didn't have one.
Now, I can do business anywhere in the US and Canada, so who knows where life will lead me.
I don't regret that I had no plan, but I do see the benefits of having one.
Having a written plan sets guidelines for you to grow and accomplish the goals that are important to you.
Do you have a written plan?
