Many people tell me that they are not in selling.
"I'm not selling anything". I'm a coach, I'm a trainer, I'm a content writer.
Just because your job title doesn't contain the word sales, doesn't not mean you aren't selling.
You are promoting the services, products, vision and mission of whatever company you work with.
I've even heard, "I could never be a sales person. I promote".
OK, we'll wait for you to take your head out of the sand. (OMG, there's no ostrich emoji!)
You can dress up, dress down, share inspirational messages, and give us helpful business advice.
Many people are on LinkedIn looking for new opportunities but they seem confused as to what that means.
They left jobs they hated to do something new. Many are looking for a different job. They like being told what to do.
The vast majority of those who took part in the Great Resignation resigned with no plan in mind.
Unfortunately, after years of punching a clock 9-5 and taking orders they were convinced that selling is bad.
All those years, they were selling for the company they worked for.
People will say, "No, I wasn't selling, I was in (fill in the blank)" (Accounting, HR, Stockroom, Deliveries...)
But, every time that employee was asked what they did, they more than likely spoke highly of the company. They explained what the company does and how it benefits their customers.
WELCOME TO SELLING!
Selling is a noble profession when done with integrity.
Salespeople bring value to people's lives.
Selling is about building relationships, asking questions and actively listening to the answers.
I sometimes tell people, depending on the circumstances, that my services are not a good fit for them.
It's OK to do that!! Help the people get what is best for them, according to THEM, not you.
Sell your services and products and be proud of it.
