Instead of telling everyone else what they should do, why not show them?
Don't just say it. BE IT.
Don't shout it. LIVE IT.
Be the example you think everyone else should aspire to be.
That's what it means to be transparent.
When put in that context, many people will realize they expect more from others than they expect from themselves.
The reverse is true as well. There are people who are more severe on themselves on those around them.
Neither of these examples are ideal.
Knowing that you will never reach everyone, nor will everyone you reach agree with you, how do you choose to show up everyday?
Transparency is a new buzzword comprised of trust, integrity, clarity and honesty.
When you lay all your marketing and advertising by the side, how transparent is your company?
Does your marketing reflect truthfully what your company does?
Is there clarity of mission, vision, goals and actions at every level?
By being transparent, you are showing everyone around you exactly who you are and how you work.
You build more trust with co-workers and clients.
Being transparent does NOT mean you share every detail of your life.
No one wants to hear that you stayed up all night because fill in the blank, or that you couldn't finish a project because your dog ate your notes... You get the idea.
Let's face it, if you didn't get a project done, it's because you didn't start it on time or plan to have it finished well before the deadline.
Transparency begins with looking in the mirror. Be transparent with yourself first.
Admit to yourself where you need to improve, then show yourself you can do it.
Transparency, Diversity, Honesty, Simplicity, and every other buzz word of the day begins with each of us individually.
Are you a living example of the people you would like to meet?
