I'm currently rereading, The Untethered Soul, by @Michael Singer.
Have you ever considered the voice(s) in your head?
We all have them.
Thoughts appear out of no where and you may even wonder where that idea came from.
This morning, I was on a conference call where the discussion was all about the voices in our head.
I began to answer a question that someone asked and after a few sentences someone else started talking right over me.
He completely interrupted me, mid-sentence.
I thought how rude he was to completely cut me off (that was my little voice talking), until I realized I was on mute!!
Poor guy had no idea what I was thinking of him before that.
I unmuted and apologized to him, laughing. That confused him at first. Why is she apologizing?
We all had a good laugh as we discussed how quickly that little judgmental voice can jump in with assumptions.
It was the perfect example.
I have learned to tell that uninvited voice, the unsolicited thoughts, to GO AWAY.
For a while I would tell them to shut up, but I really don't like talking like that.
Have you ever noticed that when you take control of your mind, it will get quiet?
Most of the time, my mind is quiet now but every now and then those thoughts creep in.
I will catch the voice in mid-thought and say GO AWAY, I'm not listening to you now.
Astonishingly, it vanishes. That's when I reenforce my mind with constructive thoughts.
We all have this tendency, as we talk to clients, employees, friends and family.
Are you in control of those unsolicited thoughts that enter your mind?
