We all know that there is no straight path in any area of our lives.

It's our choice on the way we want to plan for the rocky roads.

You can fret over them, worry yourself sick that "something" could happen, or you can plan mentally to be ready for anything that happens.

The term worry yourself sick isn't just a saying. It's fact. We can literally worry ourselves to death if we aren't careful.

I have a close family member who does nothing but worry. As a result they are constantly at the doctor and taking medication for some preplanned illness.

The same thing can happen in business and other areas of our lives.

You can wring your hands and lose sleep over things that most often don't happen. Stop worrying about not hitting a deadline or getting the raise you deserve. Always do your best.

If you are stuck in "worry mode" you often can't see any way out. You aren't looking for solutions, rather you are planning for the worst outcome.

You can't have faith and worry at the same time.

If you're in college, don't think about failing your exams. Study! Plan on paying them with flying colors.

You started a new job. Don't worry that you might get fired. Work at your highest level of professionalism and plan on getting a raise or advancing to a higher position.

Imagine newlyweds who are already worried they might get a divorce. Getting married is a commitment that means you are going to have to work together to plan your future.

Plan for what you want. Be ready, but don't focus on, bumps in the road and detours along the way.

Positive minded people focus on what they do each day to get to the goals they have set.

One day at a time.

There are days when we think we have gotten nothing accomplished. That too is part of life and is nothing to lose sleep over. We aren't perfect.

Other days, we may consciously put everything aside and take a break. Those days are vital for our wellbeing.

Embrace those extended breaks we call vacation and completely unplug.

Worry has never created anything of value.

A worry that leads to total focus to make sure the dreaded event doesn't happen it is no longer worry.

Focus, planning and appreciation for the small wins along the way are what keep us healthy and peaceful.

Turn worry into focus. The outcome is never guaranteed; learning experiences and advancement towards your goals is.

Don't plan for the worst. Celebrate the wins, both yours and those around you.
