It's summertime and many people are traveling.

There always seems to be a certain amount of hectic excitement and confusion as we prepare to take off for a week or two.

This is a time, according to @IDShield, that scammers use this confusion and expense of summer travel to their advantage.

Don't end up wasting your vacation dealing with scams.

@IDShield provides a few simple tips for summer travelers:

  • Use a credit card to pay, not cash, money order, or wire transfer.

  • Be sure to have the post office hold your mail while you're away

  • Set your devices to join trusted Wi-FI networks only

These are just a few things that people don't think about when planning a trip.

Another important thing to think about it posting about your trip.

Don't let the whole world know your exact travel dates or post photos while you are gone if you are leaving your house unattended.

Many people have experienced break-ins because thieves knew they were away.

You don't want to spend your vacation worrying about scammers and thieves, nor do you have to.

Make security part of your vacation preparation plan so you will have peace of mind while you're away.

Bon Voyage!

Are you going on vacation?
