Your estate plan is like a final love letter to your family.

Your will is a document that says, 'I cared enough about you that I made decisions so you won't have to, at a time when you are least likely able'.

When I present my services as an employee benefit I must approach the subject carefully.

It's a subject we must address because 100% of us will die someday.

The standard question I ask is, do you have an up to date will?

I would never ask someone if they have a will as that too creates discomfort for many. It's embarrassing for some to admit they don't have a will.

Knowing that it's one of the most important documents you can have, it's unfortunate that most people don't have a will.

There are only 2 reasons people don't have a will:

They can't afford it

They are hesitant because of the sensitive nature

Having these important documents in place benefits your whole family.

It brings clarity.

Making sure your teenage adult (18 and over) has they important documents in place is also essential.

There are many reasons and considerations to have your will prepared and kept up-to-date.

I'll be talking about estate planning throughout the month of August.

Is estate planning something you are comfortable talking about with your family?
