LinkedIn has evolved from a job search platform to a business networking platform.

There are 800 million people on LinkedIn and most of them don't know how to network; most don't even know why they are here.

People are looking for jobs and new opportunities. Others are looking to help people find jobs.

There are business coaches, consultants, and trainers. Others are looking for a coach...

People are looking for speakers at their events, while others are looking for events where they can speak.

We can't forget the sales people (which is everyone). Everyone is selling something, be it products, services, concepts or themselves.

But how do you find the people you are looking for?

You may have built an avatar and know exactly who your target market is.

Bravo! 👏👏👏

Now what❓

When you learn how to network professionally, the whole scene can change for you.

To begin with, be genuine. Be YOU! No one else can do it.

Throw out the old concepts of cold calling, sales pitches and gimmicks (cheats).

Stop trying to sell anything.

Throw away your scripts and start getting to know people.

The best way to start building solid business relationships with people who will refer you to the right people is....drum roll....BY HELPING OTHERS!

Here are some suggestions on building a network:

  1. ✅ ENGAGE 🤝

  2. ✅ Like and Comment on people's posts

  3. ✅ Like and Comment on other people's comments on posts.

  4. ✅ Share other people's posts.

  5. ✅ WRITE YOUR OWN CONTENT.

  6. ✅ Respond and like the comments on your post!

  7. ✅ Post videos.

❌ Stop with the impostor syndrome crap and start writing! People do want to know what you have to say.

❌ Don't come on LinkedIn expecting to find your ideal client immediately, or using that script you worked so hard to perfect.

❌ Guess what! It's NOT PERFECT anyway.

As you get to know people in your network, start introducing people to each other, when you see they have similar interests and targets.

Not everyone will take the time to meet with you, but it is a great way to start getting to know people.

Get a online scheduling calendar, such as @Calendly, @Square or @Setmore to make it easier to set appointments.

When you meet with a new connection, make it your goal to find 2-3 people to introduce them to.

Focus on helping and bringing value to them, not on writing new business.

Take the time to build trust with the people you are connecting with.

Remember, they don't trust you any more than you trust them.

And, don't be afraid to ASK FOR HELP!

It's ok not to know everything. No one does.

Start networking with intention.

I'm on LinkedIn to connect with people, to connect them with others, to learn, and to provide my services to those who see value in them.

Do you know why you are on LinkedIn?
