When you're setting goals for anything you must first consider WHY you want to do it.
This isn't a new topic, although there are many people who have never considered it.
Why do you want that job, that role, or that recognition?
This is how one of my colleagues was able to find his why.
He was asked, "Why do you want to work with us?"
He replied, "To make more money".
WHY?
"Because I want to buy a bigger house?"
WHY?
"Because my children still share a bedroom and my daughter will soon be a teenager. Every night she asks me, Daddy, will I get to have my own room someday?"
At this point, the man had tears in his eyes. He said "I promised my daughter that she would have her own bedroom when she's a teenager".
BINGO!
His why was not about money, it was about giving his daughter her own room.
They say your why should make you cry.
We all get up every morning because there's not really another option.
For one reason or another, we go to work to put food on the table and a roof over our heads. Everyone does that, but there's more.
People who know why they are working so hard and that they are seeking are more driven than those who have no idea.
Do you know why you do what you do?
Do you have a WHY that makes you cry?
