@Ahmad Munawar mentioned in one of his posts that "small business" is not a target market because it's far too broad!

The message can not be more clear.

There are about 5 million small businesses in the US.

Have you ever been to a networking event where people tell you that "Everyone" is their target? Everyone needs my widget, my services, my expertise.

I was one of those people at one time, until I learned how lame that is.

Everyone is not your target and when you claim they are, you confuse people.

You have to narrow it down further.

Do you really want to know who your target audience is?

Take inventory of who have you helped more than any other group.

People in your network are not all your target audience.

However, they also have networks. They know people who know people who are your target market.

Are you looking at LinkedIn from all angles or your own small lens?

Build relationships first, support those in your network and help those who ask for it.

The rewards will come in ways you hadn't considered.

The most important thing to keep in mind is what Maya Angelou said, PEOPLE WILL REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL!!

1) Everyone is not your target market

2) There are people who know your target

3) Build relationships with everyone and HELP THEM FIRST.

4) Start your day with the intention of helping someone else without talking about yourself.

Don't treat the idea of building relationships as if it is a new concept. IT'S NOT

It's one of the foundations of humanity. It's what sets us apart from other animals.

Go and make a friend first.

You will see that it changes everything about your business.
