Anyone who has been to a business networking meeting has probably experienced the protocol.
Gone are the days of gathering and handing out as many business cards as you can.
That was a useless practice.
Think back to all the cards you've given and taken.
How many of them did you actually call or receive calls from? Staggeringly few, I imagine.
How many of those cards did you share with someone who may have needed that person's services?
Most people don't give many referrals because they are too focused on themselves.
Now we can network and refer others through our posts here on LinkedIn.
The whole point, and the power of networking, happens when you give 3rd Party recommendations.
GIVERS GAIN is the mantra of the world's leading networking organization.
It is much more effective to have someone else give you a warm introduction than to cold call.
We can do exactly the same thing here on LinkedIn.
Of course, we can always introduce in private messages, which is powerful.
But, why not give a shout out in a post to someone you value so many people will see it?
Then, alert the right people by tagging them in the comments, or copy a link to the post directly to the right person (people).
Do you give referrals to others in your network?
