No one will come straight out and say they are dishonest, especially to themselves.

How often have you heard any of the following statements?

  • "I'll get back to you tomorrow!" But they don't call tomorrow...

  • "Yes, I'll be at the meeting." But they don't show up at the meeting, whether live or virtual...

  • "You can depend on me." Then they drop the ball and leave you hanging...

Why do people lie?

One theory is that these people hate confrontation and being let down.

Rather than let you down at the proper time, they build you up and let you down when they aren't present.

The worst thing you can do to people is to ignore them, also known as ghosting.

Ghosting is also a form of lying. Don't kid yourself if you think it's not.

✅ If you still need time – say it.

✅ If you are not interested – say it.

✅ If you still need information – say it.

By not saying anything you show your lack of good ethics and integrity.

Business is not personal so don't treat it that way.

Clear open communication is what everyone wants and expects.

If you want people to be honest with you, you must also be honest.

This is not rocket science.

Business is a combination of building relationships with integrity and honesty, as well as helping other people get what they need before expecting them to give you.

Show who you really are by looking in the mirror and telling yourself that you will treat everyone the same way you expect to be treated.

Do what you said you would do. Clearly communicate your expectations and you will start to connect with people who do the same.

Do you consider yourself an honest person?
