You are on LinkedIn to do business.
It takes time to gain the trust of the people you connect with.
By keeping the information clear and concise, and not selling outright, you can build trust more quickly.
I had a wonderful discussion with Carol Nelson of Nelson Notes. Carol does adult training on communication.
Among other things, Carol shared with me the concept of telling the 3 things you want to communicate.
You can change it up with each conversation for different types of prospects.
You can also learn more quickly about other people by asking them for 3 things they want you to know.
Ask, what are 3 things you want me to know about your business/services/products?
For example, I want different people to know different things depending on their needs.
After having a discussion with the business owner and learning the major concerns they have, I can pick 3 things from a long list of services.
I may want a business owner to know:
⭐️ you have unlimited, same day, consultation
⭐️ we review your contracts
⭐️ if you are audited, we provide 50 hours of assistance with a tax attorney
OR
Their employees should know:
⭐️ we prepare their wills at no cost
⭐️ we provide 24/7 access to an attorney for emergencies
⭐️ we write letters and make phone calls on their behalf
There is so much more that I could say but people won't remember everything.
We all forget about 50% of what we were told in any seminar, webinar, or other types of meetings.
I did this recently in an employee benefits enrollment when I only had 2 minutes to speak in front of 120 people.
I spoke for 1 minute and 20 seconds and told them 3 things they needed to know. I got a higher engagement rate than when I had spoken for 5-10 minutes.
Keep it clear and concise.
