Yesterday, I attended the @Boerne Chamber of Commerce Business Conference.
It is an all-day event featuring 2 excellent keynote speakers and breakout session speakers.
I came away with content ideas that would last me a month.
@Tomas Martinez III, of Luxury Home Magazine, started us off in the morning with a discussion on 6 Ways to Avoid Playing Small.
One of the quotes Tomas shared was from Nelson Mandela:
"There is no passion to be found playing small in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living."
It isn't easy to summarize so much content into one post.
The 6 Ways to Avoid Playing Small, as presented by Tomas are:
Loving Who You Are - you must see value in yourself, add value to yourself and add value to others.
Engage Your Mind in the Process - there is no progress without process. It's all about what you do consistently over time.
Give Yourself Time to Think - Planning is essential. Thinking is important. Journaling, prayer, meditation, and contemplation are vital elements to personal growth.
Abandon Limiting BS (Belief Systems) - these are judgments about yourself that you believe to be true that restrict you.
Create Intentions for the Life You Want - Set smart goals that are specific...you know the drill.
Yearn For Your WHY - What is it you want so much you can feel it? It's all about feeling that desired outcome.
Many people get stuck on the first one. If you don't see value in yourself, or love yourself, why should anyone else?
We were asked to name 5 people we know who are not playing small.
I was pleasantly surprised that I came up with a lot more than 5, many of whom are here on LinkedIn.
Not playing small has nothing to do with being arrogant. It's about acknowledging your self-worth.
A good measure for not playing small is looking at how many people you help.
Most people who play small tend not to take action to help others unless they are led to do so.
Are you playing small?
