Today I was inspired by @Fred Diamond's post asking what acronyms people use.

One acronym we use quite often in my business is MAD, Making A Difference.

I love to say that I am MAD every day because I feel that sums up my work accurately. I am making a difference.

I found a few other acronyms that made me smile.

One that I use daily is FU...no, it's not what you think!!

FU stands for Follow Up!

We all know so many different acronyms.

FEAR which has many variations:

  • False Evidence Appearing Real

  • Forgive Everyone And Relax

  • Face Everything and Recover

  • False Expectations Appearing Real

We have all heard of SMART goals:

  • Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic/Relevant, Time-bound

There are school-related acronyms -

  • SCHOOL - Sucks Children's Happiness Out Of Life

  • CLASS - Come Late And Start Sleeping

We use acronyms for efficiency, memorability, clarity, jargon, and branding purposes.

Acronyms can help to communicate complex ideas or phrases in a more concise way.

They make long terms more memorable. They can help in situations where multiple phrases or concepts are being discussed.

Acronyms are often used in technical or specialized fields as a form of jargon. They can help to establish a sense of shared language

One of the most memorable branding acronyms is NASA, which is much easier to remember than the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

@Fred Diamond asked a relevant question.

What acronyms do you use in business?
