We live in a world filled with noise.

During the Covid lockdown, I found it comforting to sit outside and listen to the stillness. I would get up before the birds and sit outside with a cup of coffee embracing the silence.

The sound of nothing is calming to me.

That's why it's especially important to use silence in business as in music.

Do you use silence in your business?

As a professional musician, I learned the power of silence within music.

Many concertgoers are oblivious that silence in music is often intentional. It's meant to bring an impact to the music. Silence adds depth and meaning to the listening experience.

It serves as a powerful tool to create tension, build anticipation, and highlight the impact of what's coming next.

It is especially painful during a symphony concert when a sudden pause in the music reveals the people talking loudly. It's also not the time to cough or unwrap loud candy wrappers.

YES, we can hear you all the way up on stage!

Silence is also powerful in business. It shows you are actively listening and gives you a chance to reflect and understand what was said.

It's a powerful tool in conflict resolution and negotiations. Silence helps to maintain control and allows emotions to settle.

During brainstorming sessions, silence can help a team to evaluate its goals and generate new ideas. It enables a deeper understanding of different perspectives.

By remaining silent, you allow others, who may not be so assertive, the space to express their thoughts, ideas, and concerns.

Are you mindful of the impact silence can have on your business?
