78 - Are You Connecting With People?

I love the title of John Maxwell's book, Everyone Communicates, Few Connect.
It is a real eye-opener as to how we often don't connect with those we talk to.
Do you meet people and tell them with great excitement about everything you are doing?
Are you super excited about how you can solve other people's problems and help them in some area of their life or business?
That may be the problem!
Your excitement could be a cover-up for a lack of communication.
I once watched a co-worker start to talk louder as she was explaining our services. The woman listening had heard what she said, she just didn't understand.
Instead of talking yourself blue in the face, start asking questions.
Ask, to gain greater clarity.
Find out about the person first, then fill in with your proposal.
Your goal is not to sell anything.
Your goal is to better understand their situation and to see if what you have to offer really is the right fit.
As a leader and salesperson, sometimes you must be the one to say no, then help them find a suitable resolution.
