Tardiness is an important topic that was addressed by @Cynthia Soares-Harfoush in her post today.

It doesn't matter how well you have prepared, how talented you are, or how professional your appearance is.

If you show up late, it could cost you the job, period.

There are no excuses (unless you show up with blood on your clothes and a police report).

No amount of impressing the interviewer(s) will save the day.

You have shown the people you will be working for and with that you are unreliable.

We have a saying in my business. The founder of LegalShield used to say, "If you can't be on time, be early." It's similar to the quote I posted.

And, it's true.

Don't make people wait for you. Do you find it annoying to wait on others?

Some people will answer no to that question and they will give reasons that correlate with their own propensity to being late.

I could give a list of life events that we should never be late to but there is no list. The simple fact is, you should never be late.

I have a friend who is habitually late for every meeting. Everyone knows she will be late.

Yet, each time she comes in with her cheery attitude, which we all love, and an excuse that usually revolves around a family member. My, son, my aunt, my mother...

It would be refreshing if she would say, I'm so sorry for being late, period. Who does she think she's kidding?

If you are one of those perpetually late people who think they have excellent excuses, guess what...

Everyone in the room sees right through you. You come across as inauthentic and unreliable.

How do you deal with people who are constantly late?
