My post about the importance of will preparation got some engaging comments.

The following comment came from Brad Friedman, is worth sharing.

She had a will.

I am thankful for this as it has made things much easier for my wife and her sister to grieve and handle the things that need to be handled.

I completely agree with your statement, 'Having a will shows your family and loved ones that you cared enough to make tough decisions so they wouldn't have to.' Thank you!"

It means so much more than people realize to have made those important decisions.

Years ago, I ran into a friend a few months after her husband had died quite suddenly at only 48 yrs of age.

I asked her how she was doing and she said, " I AM SO ANGRY AT HIM! We talked about having our wills prepared but he was so busy, I couldn't get him to sit down and do it. Now I must sell everything because he had no life insurance and I can not carry out his wishes because it wasn't written down."

You could hear the pain in her voice.

It's hard enough to grieve but to be angry at the person as well is especially tough.

As soon as a child turns 18 and is an adult, they should have medical directives and Powers of Attorney put in place. Otherwise, their parents will not be able to make decisions for them.

That's reality.

Don't procrastinate! It's too important.
